WHO WE ARE
Followers of Jesus Christ
Led by the Holy Spirit
Rooted in God’s Word
Ephesians 3:16-19
Our Vision
To bring simplicity back to the Gospel. With real relational experiences that bring forth steadfast life change, and the love of Christ experienced by everyone.
Our Founders
Joshua Bartholomew is the Senior Pastor of Simple Gospel Church in Hockley Texas. He and his wife, Elizabeth, married in 2018, and now have 3 beautiful children.
Both have spent many years serving in different areas of ministry throughout their young adult years, and during the past 6 years were given the opportunity to lead in ministry together. They have both felt a tug and a call of God to not only move to Hockley Texas but plant a bible rooted and a community focused church in Hockley, Texas.
They believe this is the time for the church as a whole to get back to the simplicity of the Gospel, to see the Holy Spirit move, for God’s Word to take root in hearts, and for a real relationship with God to be grown. Their heart is to step back from the performance side of things and focus on seeing lives changed, people walked with, and the love of Christ shared with everyone.
Our Core Beliefs
These are the foundational values we use to define our church.
The Bible
Is the inspired and authoritative Word of God. It alone is foundational truth. It is the unchanging nature of God. The very words of God are life transforming.
2 Timothy 3:16; 2 Peter 1:20-21; Hebrews 4:12; Psalm 19:7; Psalm 119:89; Isaiah 40:8; Ephesians 3:16-19
The Trinity
There is one God, externally existent in three Persons: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. All three are equal and co-eternal.
1 John 5:7; 1 Corinthians 8:6; John 14:26; 2 Corinthians 13:14
Jesus Christ
Jesus Christ is the Son of God. He is fully God who came to this earth fully man. He is the only man to have lived a sinless life. Jesus Christ was conceived by God, through the Holy Spirit in the virgin Mary, He performed miracles, He had real life changing relationships, He died on the cross for mankind, and in doing so atoned for our sins through the shedding of His blood. Jesus Christ on the third dray rose from the dead, and ascended to the right hand of the Father, he intercedes for the Saints, and is to return to this earth in power and glory.

Salvation
We are saved by grace through faith in Jesus Christ. Not only through his death but his resurrection, we have received salvation. The salvation we have received is a gift from God, not by our own works or human efforts. For there is only one way to eternal life and that is through the acceptance of Jesus Christ as Lord over your life.
Ephesians 2:8-9; Romans 6:23; John 14:6; John 3:36
The Holy Spirit
The Holy Spirit was active in the Old Testament, with Jesus’ Life on earth, and is present in our world today. He is and has been making people aware of their need for Jesus Christ.
The Holy Spirit dwells within us and empowers us who believe in Jesus Christ to let go of our old ways and to transform us to the image of Jesus Christ, which cannot be done in our strength. The Holy Spirit is the promise of God the Father, sent by Jesus after His Ascension, to empower the body of believers to preach the Gospel to the whole earth.
Everyone through the Holy Spirit has a Motivational Gift that moves us to action and to serve. As we begin to move to action the Holy Spirit equips us all in different manifestations. This gift is to build, sanctify, validate, and confirm the power of the Gospel. This gift is always in alignment with God’s Word and should always be used in alignment with God’s Word.
An overflow of the baptism of the Holy Spirit is speaking in tongues. It is a form of intercession with God where the Spirit intercedes on our behalf. It is a gift given to all and for all.

Resurrection & Second Coming
Jesus Christ was physically resurrected from the dead in a glorified body three days after His death on the cross. In addition, both the saved and the lost will be resurrected; they that are saved to the resurrection of life, and they that are lost to the resurrection of eternal damnation. Jesus Christ will physically and visibly return to earth for the second time to establish His Kingdom. This will occur at a date undisclosed by the Scriptures.
